Oh how I missed blogging the last few days. It had been a busy week last week and I can honestly say that I miss blogging so much when I am unable to and I don’t like posting something just for the sake of it. I had a weekend away at a beach cottage up the east coast at a place called Salt Rock, what a tranquil place. You walk from the house straight on to the beach- no gates, no far walk or any hindrances, just pure blue ocean on your door step. Therefore, I decided to do this weeks colour series on BLUE. I have not used blue in my home at all but I like blue, it is a fantastic colour for any area or purpose.
Things to Know about Blue:
Blue is a calming colour, it is tranquil and soothing and adaptable to most colours because it is 1 of the 3 primary colours and is used to make most colours. Finding colours to match a blue over a time (such as in your baby boy’s room) is quite easy. They recommend matching yellow with blue for babies. Change to mint green with the blue when they toddlers and the as they get older match orange with the blue in the room and in high school years white works well in creating a more mature taste.
Using blue does not always mean you have to go for that ocean or sailor look. If white is used, you should steer towards palettes were you use pale yellow, mint greens and powder pinks. In saying that, Che’ told me once that if you can get colours together in nature, you can combine them in decorating…..so be adventurous. Find blues from the sky, the ocean, from flowers and landscapes and match them to the area you want to use blue in. Bring shades of blue together to create a tranquil, calming place which is ideal in bathrooms or mature bedrooms. Reception areas welcome blue as it is neutral and un intimidating.
